The Instructors Course - The Last Stage

Chiangmai 2010 - 2011

Kruu Pedro contacted the most advanced and experienced Muay Sangha students from all over the world to give them the chance to learn all the knowledge of the Muay Sangha system and to offer them the possibility of becoming Instructors.

The first step the students had to take was to make a sacrifice. They had to leave their families, friends, and work to come to Thailand for 3 months in order to take part in the instructor course. This was a step that not everybody contacted could make. 22 people were contacted 3 months in advance, for different reasons only 12 were able to make the trip to Thailand.

The course was difficult, with long training sessions, up to 9 hours of practice a day, with a lot of information and concepts to learn. With almost no time to rest the students had to recover the energy for the next day, which was always more difficult then the previous one. It was difficult not only for the students, but also for Kruu Villalobos, who had to teach the 12 of them. In this month the students were taught the basic concepts of movement within the style.

At the end of every month there were individual exams, which the students had to pass to be able to continue.

Even though they all did everything they could, training hard, with a lot of effort, 3 students didn’t pass the first exam. They each had to leave the course for different reasons.

The second month was probably the most physically difficult, with all the fatigue accumulated from the first. Even though this month was more difficult then the previous one, all students were able to complete it and pass on to the third and final month of the course.

The third month was physically less demanding but at the same time probably the most important for the students. In this month the majority of the Sangha style techniques were taught.

After much work and sacrifice the end was near, everybody was just one step from reaching the final goal. Having passed the final exam 6 students finished the course and become Muay Sangha instructors. Kruu Pedro Solana Villalobos has now closed a circle and a new stage begins for him where he will concentrate on the healing aspects of martial arts.

Martial arts were the boat which helped him to cross the river, now reaching the other side, the master leaves the boat and continues walking and growing on his spiritual journey. A lot of courage was needed to achieve this, and a lot more was required to let it go. His words and actions were, are and will be an example for many of us. We are grateful from our hearts, for his teachings and for the light he shared with us.
