Muay Thai Boran - Ancient Muay Thai

Page 2 - Everything Changes

I ask myself many times, "What are we missing in the sport style? Something is different." "Something that doesn’t go along with the old code. I am trying to think…"

Some people say that Muay Thai should go back to how it was before; more techniques, different styles and more respect. Other people have a more liberal attitude and say that nothing can stay the same forever, everything changes, and that we should let the art evolve naturally.

"We can make a difference and help to protect the art."

I happen to agree with both points of view; Muay Thai cannot go back to how it was before, that would be impossible, the world does change, people change and it’s often very difficult to maintain old traditions.I would like to make one point though; we should not try to keep things the same, but we should all remember the influence we can have on the direction our art takes in the future. In other words, we can make a difference and help to protect the art so we can pass it on to future generations intact. Techniques can change, stances, the number of rounds , strategies etc. But one thing should always stay the same, and this is the warrior’s code.
